International Coastal Guide Module
The Incident Management module is essential training for ISKGA guides, designed for proficient sea kayakers with prior rescue experience and a solid understanding of leading groups safely on the sea. The module blends theoretical leadership strategies for high-pressure situations with practical scenarios in challenging environments such as surf zones, rock gardens, and tide races. Key areas covered include leadership under duress, group management, casualty extractions, emergency landings, first aid, and emergency communications. Scenario-based learning sharpens rapid decision-making skills to enhance incident management capabilities.
This course encompasses the essential basics of paddling a sea kayak on the ocean or other large bodies of water, the module also includes elements of sea safety, navigation and camp craft.
As paddlers advance through the three fundamental levels, they will work towards becoming skilled expedition team members, enhancing their abilities in paddle techniques, seamanship, camp craft, and navigation. They will also learn to support group objectives during expeditions.
